Avoiding Water Pollution

Mark Stallard • Jun 26, 2023

This week we look at how your business can avoid water pollution

Here are our top tips on minimising the environmental impact of water pollution within your organisation:

1.    Purchase substances that have a low impact on the environment.

2.    If you have a fleet of vehicles, ensure they are maintained to minimise the risk of leaking into water outlets.

3.    Purchase double insulated tanks for storage of fuel and oil and ensure they are positioned away from drains.

4.    Keep lids on substances when not being used.

5.    Purchase spill kits and ensure employees are trained on how to use them.

6.    Don’t dispose of substances down the drain or sink.

7.    Install automatic taps that turn off after a few seconds.

8.    Minimise the use of fertilisers and pesticides which could run off into water outlets.

9.    Collect your rubbish and avoid throwing them directly into lakes, rivers, streams, and any other bodies of water.
